Knight-Commander Mordecius by LieutenantHawk Knight-Commander Mordecius by LieutenantHawk
This is the other main character for my new idea, Mordecius, the famous knight-commander of the lizard kingdom. I was kinda experimenting with different combinations of plate and mail, and I like what I came up with. The scanner killed this one too, but... whatever.

I hardly ever see a knight anthro that isn't a canaine or feline.

And with such nice lighting on the armor too, it looks as if it was just polished.

Again, the armour and clothing looks really good. I especially like the little snippets of colour reflecting off the armour. The complementing red and green will certainly bring attention to the character, but it might be tricky getting a steady colour scheme in any particular image.
And he looks quite balanced wearing that heavy armour. Like he certainly holds himself like a knight-commander. Great work, Hawk =)

Thanks! Yeah, I do like the red and green--just like Mack with his red scarf. And I'm sure he is used to the armor after wearing it for ten years straight. XD

Ten years -straight-? Ewwww...
I enjoy having focus on the characters, certainly. It might be interesting to get a unified colour theme going throughout a piece of work. That's still possible with any colours going on, but would just be a little trickier to pull off.

Well, not straight, but still, he's worn it a lot. XD
Yeah, color schemes can be tricky sometimes. Sometimes it's just difficult to judge when it's okay to throw in a little bit of different colors for the sake of trying to make sense, since things usually don't follow a strict scheme in real life.

Indeed, it's not like everyone actively searches out just the right apparel to create a unified colour theme for themselves. It's usually more like, "That looks nice, I'll wear it." or, "These garments go well together, it'll make a nice outfit." Colours may happen to be generally complementary or unified, but it's more of a secondary thing to that all.
Wow, that's saying a lot without saying much =P

Yeah, totally. XD I really do need to experiment more with colors though... One reason I like the woodless pencils I use so much is because they seem to blend much easier than normal colored pencils. But I would like to try more actual color schemes in my art--like you said, they usually aren't thought out in real life, but as far as art goes it seems to make stuff more eye-catching and appealing.

This armor art looks really good I like that you added the cape there too. All that design with the plated armor and mail seems to have gone quite well... Personally though, for some reason I would always draw knight wearing some gloves on, I think it just fits that way ^^
To be honest also, it would be neat to see more of this knight, I kinda could imagine him riding a fierce warhorse... Or did you use some reptilians btw? Well its just that I actually like horses a lot, fine steeds ^^"

Thanks. :) I would have drawn him with gauntlets, but I couldn't decide what kind I wanted him to wear.
I'm sure I'll be drawing more of him in the future, since he's a character in a story I plan on writing. He does have a warhorse; I'll have to draw him riding it sometime.

Great, I'm sure it will look awesome. I got horses also in my world of dragons, my anthro dragons, some do prefer to ride a horse cause they are so loyal animals ^^

I gotta admit that I'm bit of a freak of always putting to the mounts caparison or armor plates, or both even. I don't know why but they seem to look more mighty when having those on ^^"
