So, after being told by Geek Squad that I'd need to to stage two or three recovery ($600-1500 and up) to retrieve anything from my hard drive, I started digging around for people I know who might be able to do it for less money. I had some family members ask around too. Someone who works for my aunt stepped up and said he would take a look at it for me, so I gave it to him a week ago and he's worked on it nonstop since then. He put almost 30 hours into it and was able to recover everything. As a professional contractor he usually charges $89 an hour to work on computers, but after hearing about my situation, he only charged me $190, and that includes the cost of the 2 TB external hard drive he bought to copy the data to.

Going through all the data now, it looks like only about 5% of it is damaged, but all of the important stuff is intact and still usable. I'm so, so relieved that it got worked out, and I'm extremely thankful for the guy to put so much work into it for such a small cost. I gave him one of my business cards and told him that if he ever needs anything, I'd be glad to make it up to him.

Now my laptop is en route to the manufacturer to have the bad hard drive replaced. It's still going to be quite a task to reinstall everything that was on it before, but at least I haven't lost all of my art and other projects.

In other news, I'm going on vacation to Colorado Springs with my family at the end of the month. I don't know where exactly we plan to visit, but it should be fun! And my laptop will be ready for me to pick up as soon as I'm back, so I look forward to that.

Only five weeks left of summer. Darn you and your quickness!

Also, my birthday's in 19 days. notthatanyonecares~

That's all for now. Hawk out.
