Due to this site's support for AI art I will no longer be uploading my work here and will probably cease using this site altogether. It's been a good run, 14 years and all. I met some of my oldest and best friends here and it's hard to watch where this site is heading. Thanks to everyone who has followed and supported me even during my long periods of inactivity.
I will leave my gallery up for the time being. I don't currently have an alternative in mind but I will update later if I figure something out.
Here's a brief essay I wrote recently on the subject of AI art if anyone wants to read.

Hey folks, I just wanted to announce that the book I mentioned in my status update last year has been published and is available to purchase now. It's a work of phenomenology, cultural critique, and political theory that explores the problems involved in our search for a sense of identity and belonging, particularly under 21st century social, economic, and political conditions.
The book is available through Barnes & Noble here: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-crisis-of-individuality-jordan-smirl/1140864876?ean=9781668599075
You can also read more about the book on my website here: https://humancommabeing.wordpress.com/the-crisis-of-individuality/
If you'd like to purchase a copy of the book but can't get Barnes & Noble to ship to your country, send me a note and I can arrange to ship you a copy myself.
Also, if you haven't visited my new site before, I recommend checking it out! I've written essays on a variety of subjects including video games as art, the implications of NFTs and the Metaverse, current political crises, etc. My most recent article explores the oppression of LGBT+ people through the lens of existential philosophy: https://humancommabeing.wordpress.com/2022/04/07/existential-roots-of-lgbt-oppression/
As always, thank you to the friends who have stuck around here despite my lack of art over the past few years. I wish you all well.
